“Ask yourself: ‘Can I give more?’. The answer is usually: ‘Yes’.”
-Paul Tergat, Kenyan professional marathoner

500 runners turned out on a misty Thanksgiving morning to earn their stuffing and pumpkin pie in a 5K and 10K in a Turkey Trot organized by Pacific West Productions. Two of those 500 runners are Double Eagle Fitness clients who achieved personal records by running in the first race of their lives.

Meet Robin: famous from the November 2, 2011 post: https://doubleeaglefitness.com/new/2011/11/02/weight-loss-wednesday-robin-in-onederland/

Robin finishing the three-mile race!

At 55 and 238 pounds last July, Robin never thought she would or could complete a three-mile race. “I’d tell anyone who ever had a fleeting thought about wondering what it’s like to run a race to go for it,” says Robin. After losing 46 pounds and working out three times a week with Double Eagle Fitness for five months, Robin glided through the finish line in 49 minutes with a muddy, hilly, and slippery course to boot! How’s that for motivation? She says after never running more than the required mile in high school–and walking most of that–she’s ready for another 5K and excited to improve her time.

Libby finishing the six-mile race!

Robin’s eighteen-year-old daughter, Libby, also participated in the race. Libby has been training with her mom and Double Eagle Fitness three or four times a week for five months. She’s lost 33 pounds so far. Libby completed her first mile on the Novato High School track during a Double Eagle Fitness training session in August. Three months later, she ran the Indian 10K (six miles) race pooh-poohing the 5K altogether! Libby crossed the finish line in 1 hour and 28 minutes. She’s ready for more!

Winner winner turkey dinner!

An emotional day for all of us, we accepted our race finisher schwag–coffee mug, water bottle, and Whole Foods pumpkin pie with rain-drenched gratitude. Dedication. Determination. Discipline. Say the 3 d’s to yourself everyday. Go after your goals and dreams!! Make it happen! You choose your own destiny.

“The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.”
