What is your go to snack? Mine is two slices of nitrate free pastrami, a serving of baby carrots, a handful of baby heirloom tomatoes, and my favorite crunchy snap peas. Who can guess how many calories are in this snack? Post your guess and your own go to balanced snack. TGIF! Have a great week-end.
Okay, a hard boiled egg and an apple. A bag of just a handful of almonds or cashews with carrots. 2 tblsp of hummus or guacamole with 2 cups cherry tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, celery and snap peas. There’s three!
I was going to guess 200 but 165, that’s great. I like to eat an apple and a handful of tamari almonds for a snack. And of course, homegrown tomatoes when they are in season. I also like to eat these bars called “Diabeteze”. I know, unfortunate name… we’ve taken to calling them DB bars. But they are super filling and I think well-balanced. Here’s the stats: 180 calories, 9g fat, 5g fiber, 18g carbs, 10g protein. They have loads of vitamins and use organic agave syrup as the sweetner. They have no wheat, gluten, soy protein, or artificial ingredients. I usually have one for breakfast and I am satisfied until lunch.

October 07, 2011The orange is great and adding a few nuts or slices of deli meat will make you fuller and closer to the 30% protein goal.

October 07, 2011Almonds and string cheese. Along with the Binge-List I think I’ll make a healthy snack list. Other ideas would be great!
