How do you know if they have a clue what they&#8217;re doing?<\/h2>\n<h2>Unless you are very knowledgeable in a particular field, it\u2019s hard to recognize the phonies from the real deal.<\/h2>\n<h2>If you answer YES to the questions in the checklist below it\u00a0will give you an idea of how good your trainer is&#8211;or isn&#8217;t&#8230;<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h2>Do they ask questions about your medical history and training history, pain, injuries, etc before your first training session?<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2>Do they assess the way you move before\/during your first training session?<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2>Can they pinpoint specific issues you might have (weaknesses, imbalances, postural issues) during your assessment?<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2>Can they explain WHY you are doing the exercises you are doing and how those exercises are\u00a0benefiting\u00a0you and preparing you to progress to other exercises\/movements?<\/h2>\n<dl id=\"attachment_883\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 310px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><a href=\"http:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/02\/206549_10150132909754070_528129069_6139645_8107561_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-883\" title=\"206549_10150132909754070_528129069_6139645_8107561_n\" src=\"http:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/02\/206549_10150132909754070_528129069_6139645_8107561_n.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\">National Personal Training Institute Vienna, VA<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2>Do they ask you how you feel during the workout?\u00a0 Do they ask you how you feel doing certain exercises (i.e. \u201cDoes that feel OK?\u00a0 Do you have any pain doing that?\u00a0 Can you feel a stretch in your hamstrings when you hinge back like that?\u201d)<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2>Can they modify an exercise on the fly if you: aren\u2019t able to do it, aren\u2019t using the correct muscles groups to do the movement, the movement is too hard, the movement is too easy, or the movement causes pain?<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2>Do they cue and correct you when you are doing movements incorrectly or sub-optimally?<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2>Do they continue to challenge you and give you more difficult progressions as you get better?<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/def-7928.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1838\" title=\"def-7928\" src=\"https:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/def-7928-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/def-7928-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/def-7928-600x900.jpg 600w, https:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/def-7928-682x1024.jpg 682w, https:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/def-7928.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>Do they modify your workout based on how you are feeling that day?<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2>Can they answer your questions in a way that you can understand them as opposed to trying to sound really complicated in order to mask the fact that they don\u2019t know they answer?<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2>Do you feel better after working out with them for a while? (i.e. less pain, better sleep, improved posture, more energy, feeling stronger, less winded, etc)<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2>Do you look better after training with them for a while?
