How is this achieved\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">on a 1400-1500 calorie budget<\/span>? Knowing which foods are low in calories and high in protein, fiber, and water so that I can eat a huge bowl \u00a0instead of a 1\/2 cup serving of something calorically dense like pasta, rice, or ice cream. If you are a quantity eater, here are some dishes you can make with today&#8217;s all-star vegetables, cauliflower and spaghetti squash. Get your spaghetti squash now as it&#8217;s almost out of season.<\/h2>\n<h1><strong><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/01\/cauliflower2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-742\" title=\"Cauliflower\" src=\"http:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/01\/cauliflower2.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"232\" \/><\/a>Cauliflower:<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<h2>Several dozen studies link cauliflower to cancer prevention, particularly with bladder, breast, colon, prostate, and ovarian cancers. This cruciferous vegetable furnishes: high levels of vitamin C (healthy teeth, gums and blood vessels); Vitamin K (anti-inflammatory agent); <em>12 grams<\/em> of insoluble fiber per 100 calories.<\/h2>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>What to do with it?<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h2>Toss with a little olive oil, salt and pepper, and oven roast it to buttery perfection reminiscent of french fries.<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2>Mash it. Exactly as you would make\u00a0mashed potatoes.<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div id=\"attachment_728\" style=\"width: 234px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/01\/img_0603.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-728\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-728\" title=\"IMG_0603\" src=\"http:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/01\/img_0603.jpg?w=224\" alt=\"\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-728\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cauliflower &#8220;rice&#8221; 334 calories including the roast beef, onion, carrot, oil and whole head of cauliflower.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Rice it. I made this for lunch today for the first time. It was fast, delicious, and I ate the whole head of\u00a0cauliflower\u00a0for only 144 calories. \u00a0Run a head of cauliflower through the food processor. I used the shred blade.\u00a0Saut\u00e9e\u00a0an onion in a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet. Add shredded &#8220;riced&#8221; cauliflower, salt, pepper and pretty much anything you would put in rice and stir fry or cover and steam for 10 minutes. For color, I added shredded carrots. For protein, I cubed 3 oz of last night&#8217;s roast and tossed it in the skillet.<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h2>Soup it: I already blogged about this.
