In fitness, failure is something we <em>strive<\/em> for.<\/h2>\n<h2>In fitness, failing means exiting the comfort zone, taking a risk, letting experience teach you a little more every time you perform the movement you keep failing at.<\/h2>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_0751.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1847\" title=\"IMG_0751\" src=\"https:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_0751-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_0751-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_0751-600x803.jpg 600w, https:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_0751-764x1024.jpg 764w, https:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_0751-scaled.jpg 1912w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/a>Learn to challenge every muscle fiber as you inch closer to that heavy squat, that three-minute plank, or that strict body weight pull-up. Reaching failure means analyzing lessons from what you did right and what you still need to work on. How do you know when you have <em>achieved<\/em> failure?<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_864\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/02\/golgi_tendon_reflex.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-864\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-864\" title=\"golgi_tendon_reflex\" src=\"http:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/02\/golgi_tendon_reflex.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-864\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Failure due to golgi tendon reflex&#8211;he&#8217;s stuck at the bottom and NOT standing up!<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>On a purely physical level, you know you have achieved failure when you need help or when your form completely breaks down. Some people mistake the <em>sticking point <\/em>with <em>failure. <\/em>The sticking point is the most strenuous and hardest part of an exercise. On Monday I literally got <em>stuck <\/em>at the bottom part of a 113 lb front squat for a few seconds before I \u00a0somehow\u00a0corralled\u00a0the strength to stand up. Whereas<em>\u00a0failure <\/em>happens when the body&#8217;s <em><strong>golgi tendon<\/strong><\/em> kicks in and says, &#8220;Buddy, this just <em>isn&#8217;t<\/em> happening today!&#8221; In more scientific terms, the golgi tendon monitors neuromuscular overload to protect muscles from ripping. Think of golgi tendons as the body&#8217;s inherent safety mechanism when the ego needs to show off.<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_865\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/02\/def-low-res-9424.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-865\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-865\" title=\"DEF Low res-9424\" src=\"http:\/\/doubleeaglefitness.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/02\/def-low-res-9424.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-865\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Gladiator Plank Hold. How many minutes to achieve failure?<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>During any given first training session with Double Eagle Fitness, we ask clients to hold the plank until failure. This first-day test provides a baseline for their current core strength and immediately clues them in to future core goals. \u00a0They always surprise themselves. Why?
